Torn was formed in July 2001 in the hopes of creating a band that has the ferocity of Pantera and Metallica combined with the melody yet crushing rock of Alice in Chains and Soundgarden. Soon after, Torn began the long process of writing and producing their inaugural album. After two years in the studio, the hard work finally paid off with the release of their debut album "The Path Less Traveled"

Along the way, Torn has played many clubs throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Torn has played with national acts like Mushroomhead (Universal Records), Twisted Method (Geffen Records), Dope (Flip/Epic Records), Brand New Sin (Bardic/Columbia Records), Dust for Life (Wind_Up Records) , appeared at MOBfest 2002, was awarded "Best Original Band" in Suburban Nitelife Magazines' Annual Readers Poll in March of 2002, and was selected as a finalist for Jim Beam's 2002 Rock Band Search.
