NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
Girl On Top is an all original Boston based band playing alternative, punk, pop, “Girl On Top Rock”! The band was founded in 1988 and has been headlining in major Boston, New England and New York venues; winning national contests and awards! It’s kind of hard to peg down their sound, because of their diversity. Although, the dark heavy genre is their favorite, they have “pop” songs that will leave you feeling up-lifted and energized. You won’t get bored listening to their music or being at one of their shows, because they like to mix it up. A typical set might start out with a heavy “punk- rocker” about love, followed by a “rocka-billy-thang” pertaining to little white girls in little black sundresses. Next, could be a “pop” song about girls liking each other, or a heavy dirge about protecting yourself in the twenty-first century; probably a slow, dark ballad stuck in there somewhere, and than a large enough dose of some good ol’ fashioned real “pound-out- rock-and-roll” for the rest of the set, to get you up off your ass, and maybe even singing along with a climactic anthem on the end! Come on down and check out Girl On Top!

Karen DeBiasse(lead singer/rhythm guitar/songwriter)-originally from Chatham, NJ and West Chester, PA. Came here in 1979 and graduated from Berklee School of Music. Lived in Copley Square for twenty years, but now reside in Somerville. Karen is an established vocal teacher certified by the late great Dante Pavone.

Jack Rootoo-(lead guitarist)from Abington, MA. Was in the very popular band Lou Miami and the Kozmetix for eight years and then joined Girl On Top in 1988. He has opened for many famous people and has been on MTV.

David Simmons-(bass, pedal steel) from Reading, MA
Dave is also a virutuoso guitar player and has played with Girl On Top since 1998.

Dan Gharibian-(drums) Hot drummer reining from Hull, Ma. Dan has been in many local boston bands and has played for Atlantic Records.

The name of the band Girl On Top was thought of in 1987 when band members were discussing back up vocals during recording. Karen said, "Do you think the girl (vocal) should go on the bottom or on the top?". We looked at each other and said, "Girl On Top"! For months Karen did not want to use the name, because of the nature of it, but as she mentioned it to people in the music business they all said it was unbelievable. WBCN had said it was the best band name they had ever heard! So, that is how Girl On Top came to being.
