NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
Singer/guitar player Andy Boliek played in a number of punk/ska bands in his native Delaware before running away to start his college education. After a brief stint at Roanoke College in Andy started his junior year at American University in Washington, DC. Feeling the need to get back into music, Andy took up the guitar after a short break, which then fueled the desire to play in a band again. Many ads were posted on the internet for other musicians who would be interested in collaborating. Enter the band:
The ad for a drummer was answered by Arash Ardalan, Virginia Tech graduate, from Alexandria, VA. Bass duties were answered by Gary On, a graduate of James Madison University, and former a guitar player in the synth-based band, Flicker. Benoit Tilizien filled in the role of a multi-instrumentalist playing violin and synth. In his native France Ben played violin in the celtic-rock band Armens. He has toured all over Europe and has shared the stage with bands such as Phish, The Corrs, The Stereophonics among others.
Walken’s music can be described as atmospheric, but at the same time, rhythmic and powerful. After one particular show, Matt Lapin, writer for The East Coast Forum, writes, “Walken goes in a completely different direction, weaving a Coldplay-influenced take on 60s Brit-rock with a little bit o’jazz rock thrown in.” Walken will be around for a while, so make sure to look for them at a venue near you. Walken is a band you won’t want to miss.
