NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
Since the summer of 2004, a growing audience has formed for the eclectic mix of rock-folk-blues-soul music of Wes Tucker and his new band, The Skillets, in the Washington, D.C. area. Drawing comparisons to Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and Mason Jennings, the band features intricate guitar work from Bryan Washam and the driving backbeats of David Rutkowski. The Skillets have started to fill small D.C. venues with powerful demonstrations of musicianship, raw emotion, and an intense, unwavering stage presence. These gentlemen thrive on diversity, shifting from honky-tonk funk stomps to Latin infused instrumentals, to soulful crooning and back again in the space of a set list.

With the release of their first full length record, Tradition, the band is receiving great reviews as their audience continues to grow. Album songs range from delicate, harmony-laced ballads like Left Behind to the head nodding-beats of the title track.

Since its release in Sept. 2004, 3 songs from Tradition have received recognition in the 2004 Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest; one song was also selected to be included on the Artomatic art festival and showcase compilation CD; and songs continue to receive radio play on local music showcases. Tradition has also garnered praise in local publications. As Greg Yost wrote in the Dec. 2004 issue of Music Monthly, “The 13 tracks on the album feature Tucker’s outstanding songwriting ability, along with guitar skill and voice…it is a vibrant work of an original artist.”

Wes Tucker and the Skillets make an immediate impression on everyone they come in contact with. They are currently playing out constantly and have already begun work on their next full-length recording.
