Monica Leigh and Reel Jem is a 6 piece R&B band comin' up from the southside of Chicago. Reel Jem originally formed as a backup band for the lead singer Monica Leigh to perform her original songs. But it soon morphed into a full-fledged band that not only performs Monica's songs, but covers, and originals that the entire band wrote together. This band fuses the grit, authenticity and emotion of old school R&B with the sex appeal, danceable hip hop beats, and lyrical content of the R&B that's out on the market today. Influences range from old school players like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Al Green, Tina Turner, Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, etc. to newer artists like Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, Brandy, Monica, Usher, and Lucy Pearl, etc.
