NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
With such a wide range of musical influences such as: Pantera, Pennywise, Motorhead, DRI, Gwar and The Misfits, its no wonder that Torture Victim has developed such a unique sound. When asked to define their genre of music the band calls it, Blackened Thrash, Hardcore Punk, with a touch of Death, which is a correct description of their blend. In addition to their diverse musical interests Torture Victim creates a new sound by utilizing two lead vocalists, Dominic Dimas, who is also lead guitarist, and Brian Bennett, who doubles as bassist. Rather than being forced into one style of music because thats what the singer is best at, Torture Victim is able to analyze which sound is perfect for the song without compromising on vocals. This provides the ability to have punk, death metal and thrash metal aspects all within the same song. Left handed guitarist Richard Bagley emphasizes and puts his own spin on riffs, and adding to the mix is drummer David Ortega whose drumming style is always fun to experience.
Although Torture Victim has only just begun gaining a following in the local music scene their members are proud that they have accomplished so much in just under a year that they have been a band. Especially since the guys just wanted to make good music and have fun doing it. It is a testament to any band when they actually enjoy listening to their own music, even when theyre not playing it; even more so when the band enjoys playing even when no ones listening. Anyone who has been able to witness Torture Victim perform live knows that they actually perform. Rather than just standing around playing instruments, Torture Victim strives to have great crowd interaction and succeed in making the audience have a good time. Their live shows include props, set pieces, head banging, laughter, moshing and obviously a lot of sweat.
Dont be fooled into thinking that Torture Victim is just a fun live show and compromises when it comes to good music, because that is just not the case. One listen to Torture Victims self produced demo shows that the band indeed pays attention to technical aspects and is able to execute challenging speed and range combinations. Torture Victim is not only fun to watch live but also quality music to listen to.
