Formally known as Dreadnought, Mettlesome resides in Dallas and made its first appearance around Halloween of 2003 at a place called “theDallasScareGrounds”, with just four practice sessions prior to the show. With confidence and will power, the band “pulled it off without a glitch and wowed the crowd.” (quoted by Micheal Myers, haunted house character). With a name change from Dreadnought to Mettlesome ( due to another local band that goes by the name Drednot) and a line-up change, Mettlesome has become a local favorite with high potential of taking it to the next level.
Mettlesome made its first road trip as a band soon after, to Snyder, Texas, home of lead singer Andy and bassist Jeremiah. It was a test just to see if the band had it. Friends and family were amazed at what has become of the two Snyderites. The local radio station KLYD had been promoting the show for weeks on end and played Mettlesome’s song “Alone Again” on heavy rotation and was heard from a 100mile radius. The show was a success with great radio reviews.
Once heard by a few major record labels including Epic, Sony and Columbia records at a local club along with many other bands, Mettlesome received a 5 from a scale of 1 to 5. Tom Long, of Sony Records, was quoted as saying, “Best I’ve seen today.” Epic said, “The band has hit potential and great stage presence. Great song arrangement." With that, Mettlesome has opportunities for further showcases for future signing.
For the future, Mettlesome is currently in the process of writing new material with a new vocalist and drummer for their first full-length CD and will be gigging locally and touring full strength.
