Forming in Fairfield, CA in April of 2003, these young freshmans formed a band called "Blackbox Benefits".The original lineup of the group was; Joey Friedlander- vocals, Malik Kweku-guitar, Carson Rogers-bass, and Andrew Shidmt-drums.But due to personal differences and music taste Andrew Shidmt and Carson Rogers left the band.A year later Malik had best friend Tyler Helton joined the band.With Tyler's unique since of style and passion for the music, he was a perfect part of the group.Later that month lead/rythem guitarist Aaron Jalbert entered the band,due to his friendship to the band and love for the music he came right in.Still bass less the band strived hard to find what they where looking for and they found it.Old elementry school buddy of Malik's also joined the band,his name was Dan Reardon.Thanks to the power of Myspace.com Dan read one of Blackbox Benefits bullitens looking for a bass player,he replied back to them.Sooner or later Dan joined the boys on thier musical journey.Becuase of highschool, family and work, Dan had to leave B3 because of that. Dan proved them that they can make it in the music business as long as they follow his quote, "Bro's before Ho's".

In 2005, Blackbox Benefits recorded their new EP, "BLOOD,BULLETS AND BLACK" in 3 days in Vacaville,Ca at Sound Farm Recording Studios with producer Doug (Papa Roach,GOOSER). With there whole new lineup, Joey Friedlander, Malik Kweku, Tyler Helton, and Aaron Jalbert, they were a great group. "The album name is very catchy and our style is greater then it was when we started! I am proud to be in a band where people look up to us,"commented Malik Kweku (guitar).

"BLOOD,BULLETS, AND BLACK" contains songs of love, hate, and death. Musically, it test the limitations of the "post-hardcore" and "screamo" music genre's, adding great breakdowns and alternative style. Influneced by bands that range from UnderOath to Senses Fail to As I Lay Dying to FIVE MINUTE RIDE and Yesterday's Rising, Blackbox Benefits, brand of radiant and fiery hardcore is expansive yet more focused than the efforts of other bands they will be categorized with. With Aaron, Malik and Joey being guitar players there's a great amount of experimental riffs and hardcore attacks.

Without a doubt, Blackbox Benefits is one of the top bands in Fairfield, Ca.Following other Fairfield local bands Nufonia,Murder York, Razing Alexandria, Suffocate the Creep, At the Cross Roads, Said the gun to the girl, Proper Dose, Face of Brutality, My Final Regret, Blutant Innuendo and many more.
