NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
The members of Missing Zori have an interesting sense of humor. One look at the cover of their new EP raises eyebrows and even a few people's blood pressure. The nearly blank cover consists only of the title, bloodqueef, which is very much rooted in satire. It contains intricate songs with lyrics that blur the line between sarcasm, truth, and nonsense. Sometimes they will reveal a self-mockery of the band's past leading to rediculous, emo drenched lines that are intentionally misleading. "Life's a piece of shit, when you look at it/This is the life of Brian" from the song Un Dramedie des Cinemas is actually less solemn than initially perceived, and rather a throw to Monty Python's Life of Brian.

In fact, life has never been better for the band. Formed in 2001 in Anchorage, Alaska, Missing Zori has maintained it's three founding members: Brian Porter - vocals/guitar, April Cowell - drums, and John Lee - bass/vocals. The band relocated to Austin, TX in 2004 to reach a larger audience, and build on a sound all their own. Drawing inspiration from classics such as The Beach Boys, Frankie Valli, and influence of King Crimson and Shuggie Otis. Then turning it into a modern indie math in the vein of Cursive, US Maple, Deerhoof, and 31 Knots. They've been garnering much local attention, playing constantly in Austin, as well as a regional fanbase, stemming from a tour of Texas in 2005 that included El Paso, Dallas, Houston, and surrounding towns. Their live shows allow the band to let their multidimensional ideas to come together, where studio tracks are laid out in more of a project format, as on the bloodqueef EP. The band is no stranger to the studio however, self-releasing a self titled full length in 2001, and another LP, through composed in 2003, this '05 EP shines as their most ambitious achievement to date.
