We all hold a form of darkness inside of ourselves, a darkness which presents itself in different ways for different individuals. Finally, there is a band that allows its fans to channel this darkness and provides them a cathartic release of tension and aggression.
Since being formed in the summer of 2004, Spiritual Eviction has created music which permeates the boundaries of heavy metal, and fuses together old and new metal. Their sound is distinct, original and ground-breaking. Metal fans everywhere have fallen in love with their hard-hitting aggression and sultry melodic compositions. This is a young band with years of musicianship left to provide to their fans.
High-schools friends Joey and Chris had been playing together for about 3 years in Left-Handed High-Five. Early in 2004, they knew something more was out there somewhere, and as Left-Handed High-Five closed its doors, Chris and Joey began searching for a lead singer and drummer who would best exemplify their hard-hitting, dark style.
Enter Andrew Poirier and Mike Evans. Two long-time friends who had played together in many bands were amazingly searching for a guitarist and bass player to start up a new venture. Andrew had worked with Chris on a few occasions as their career paths crossed, and one day Chris decided to approach Andrew to let him know that he was searching for a vocalist and drummer. A couple of meetings and a few jam periods later, the band was formed and they began shaking the foundation of the Powis household.
The four instantly clicked, and began pumping out hard-hitting, aggressive tunes which touched another side of all who listened… a darker side. Spiritual Eviction (A name credited to the help Mike Cornell, a good friend of Andrew) was mentioned as a possible band name in one of the jam sessions. The name was perfect. It spoke to the bands message, and their sound. Its meaning can be seen differently by different individuals… however, I will attempt to shed some light on this matter and offer my interpretation. The darkness within all of us (as I mentioned earlier) is hidden deep within our uncontrollable entity… our soul. And put simply, the band reaches deep within its fans and releases (evicts) this darkness by providing a cathartic release of emotions through their powerful music.
This bio is far from complete, as is the bands illustrious future… but we will end here for now, and wait for Spiritual Eviction to continue to make history.
