"Graffik Nature is not just a hobby for us it's a state of mind!"

Formed in August 2004 by fellow childhood friends Rob "McFly" Gerke & Costas "El Capitan" Likakis, both had played in a ska project (Dirty Lingo) a few years earlier; Rob as a vocalist/drummer and Costas as an MC/trumpet player. Once the project exhausted itself, Rob left to start Japan 4 (now defunct) in 2004, with friends Shaun Witriol & Chris Wyman (Red 5 Standing By). By early 2004 however, Rob had expressed to Costas he wanted to put together his own group. Together, they formed Graffik Nature late in that year and wrote 7 songs to debut with. The next year followed with lineup changes and a few small shows, until the group settled on its current lineup in late 2005 of: Ben "Flava" Kaye (lead guitars), Phil "Anchorman" Tompkins (trombone), Costas "El Capitan" Likakis (MC/trumpet), Rob "McFly" Gerke (vocals/utility man), Garrett "Deeds" Long (bass), and Aaron "Temple of Boom" Kowitz (drums).

Graffik Nature's sound is totally original. "It's like Linkin Park meets Sugar Ray"-quote from Power Chord Magazine. Rob & Costas have managed to create a unique tradeoff between the vocals, while utilizing ska & rock feels from the other members to create their own blend of ska, rap, and metal. They have coined this new project as "skrap metal". Could this be the new face of ska music as we know it? The birth of a 4th wave?

In 2006, they played the Brass Monkey, Mac's The Club, Fletcher's, and Red House Tavern. At Fletcher's, they participated in the Emergenza Festival competition and received positive reviews. Call the band's manager Rob if you're interested in booking them at 443-838-3659. We're always looking for offers on t-shirts, bumper stickers, and other merchandise.
