“Kids can’t play hardcore, they’re not mature enough.” When you write lyrics like “I’m not really worth the tears; I’m not even worth this bullet going through my head,” I think it would be fair to say that the writer has some grasp of maturity and the true meaning of depression. There’s just no escaping the brutal honesty of these lyrics, yet they are written and preformed by teenagers. Lost And No One Knows is the definition of a hardcore band that’s beyond their years both musically and lyrically. At first LANOK attempted to express all of their musical influences into one blob of a set list. They sounded like a punk two-step hardcore breakdown mania. But once they picked up bassist Andru, things quickly started to fall into place. Now picture this; put Alex (metal-core god), Joe (the weirdest emo/rap white kid ever), Jesse (the definition of hardcore), Andru (Korn-kid straight from the fields of NJ), and Jonathan (insert description here) together in the same room. Sounds like it would suck right? Wrong. Somehow this insanely diverse group of musicians was able to come together and create a form of hardcore that everyone and their mother can enjoy (if your mom likes hardcore that is.) But what makes this band really special is the desire these guys have to share their music with everyone they possibly can. These guys live to play live shows. And if you are lucky enough to see one, you will know what I’m talking about. There could be 300 people in the room or 3 people in the room; Lost And No One Knows will still have the same incredibly intense energy in them. It’s obvious these guys love what they do. They even love it more when other people get to enjoy it with them. At first they were just trying to get noticed in the local NY scene; playing backyard parties and the shittiest clubs you can find. After releasing their self titled demo in 2005, people really started to notice them. They were offered bigger shows and their fan base grew immensely (partly thanks to myspace.) Ranging from their insanely heavy breakdowns, their catchy melodic vocals and the ever loved 2-step parts, Lost And No One Knows has truly taken hardcore to the next level. They have fused anyone's idea of "in your face" hardcore rage, with a calm and poise of depressed retention. Listening to them is like ripping a page out of your deepest, darkest day and putting music to it. You can say they are the soundtrack to your most hidden feelings. Lost And No One Knows continues to explore the possibilities of creating their unique form of hardcore while always adding their emotions into the mix. Luckily, there are no boundaries one can exceed while living a life consisting of mostly friends, fun, and music.
