At first Sub Rosa was a dream, a myth, so fragile that if spoken aloud it would vanish from the hearts and minds of its creators. It soon thereafter was endowed with the very spirit of life.
Ted Feldman, a wise young cellist from the rolling green hills of New York’s Upper East Side approached the tall dark and handsome Laurence Holland and the taller, equally dark, yet not quite as handsome Alex Mellen and said, “Hey guys, let’s make some music.” And they did.
So, there were three. Three is hardly the classy ensemble Ted had first envisioned so he looked to the slums of New York’s very own public school system and picked up two other guys.
The shaggy and dry-witted bassist, David Brent is still around today. The other guy, ehh not so much. He got eaten. The void had to be filled. So, like an angel from the heavens, like a white knight riding across the horizon, emerging from some holy place not of this world or dimension was Tollevin “The Black Ninja Mumtage” Williams. So there you have it, as epic as Homer’s Odyssey, we are many, we are one, we are Sub Rosa.
