NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
Influenced by Otis Redding, The Black Crowes, and Van Morrison - Melodeego has carved out their own unique and modern “Soul N Roll” niche. Metronome Magazine states, “Melodeego has a curiously tight, familiar soul sound that expounds on a vibe and feel that came out of southern Baptist churches, Motown and Chicago in the 50s and 60s. Steeped in the tradition of gospel and faith healing emotional rescue, Melodeego's frontman Peter Malagodi takes those influences, shakes 'em up in a bag of new tricks, sprinkles some new millennium sarcasm and spirituality throughout…” Smother.net adds “The foundation is set to the rhythm of old soulful rock-n-roll that creaks of yesteryear when the bling and glitz didn't dominate the charts as much as Sly and the Family Stone did.”
Their debut album “Runnin’ Outta Daylight”, released in December, has received excellent reviews from fans and reviewers alike. The title was inspired by an interview of Bill Parcells, who retired from coaching football after almost dying due to its extreme demands. Now back in the sport, his approach became urgent, focused in the moment, but fully aware of his own mortality. In the last line of the interview he says, “I’m running out of daylight here.” After the song “Runnin’ Outta Daylight” was written, the band decided the phrase perfectly fit the vision of the whole album. All of the 11 tracks were engineered and mixed by Chris Warren, who has recorded albums for Zox, Sage Francis and ADeem.
Melodeego was formed in the wake of Innerpink (Noise Magazine’s Best New Band of 2000) by singer and guitarist Peter Malagodi. It features drummer Kevin Jensen, and bassist Greg “Sleepytime” Reinauer, both Berklee College of Music students. The band has become known for their engaging live shows and completed an East Coast tour last summer
