NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
If Aretha Franklin, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, Etta James, and Gwen Stefani were one singer who sang for the Chili Peppers if the Chili Peppers were a bunch of retired Latin musicians who grew up playing jazz and metal in a circus, you'd have Morning Theory. Actually, you'd be about halfway there. Musically SO diverse, they are almost impossible to categorize, but through all their varied styles, they are always melodic, funky, danceable, and emotionally powerful. Drop-dead-stunning vocals, brilliant musicianship, great songs, awesome shows. In the year 2002, singer Chiara Angelicola met guitarist Anthony Pampinella through a Craigslist ad she posted looking for a guitarist to work with. The two met and on their first meeting, the song "What I am Now" was born. The two played as an acoustic duo, and recorded a full-band demo together, until a mutual friend introduced Chiara to Jack Passion. Chiara said, "We want to expand our band." Jack said, "Ok. I know a drummer." Chiara said, "Ok. I'll book some gigs." And it was done. The drummer was Erik Hoffman. He and Jack went to high school together and their musical paths had crossed once or twice. The two had been jamming as an acoustic duo while looking for another project to work on when they joined Morning Theory. There was no audition or get-to-know-you period. The band was complete before they had even played together. Anthony and Jack didn't meet until their first show together, and not even until they were both on stage! Despite these strange beginnings, the band became friends and Morning Theory has been a success. Erik and Jack sometimes joke, "we used to hang out as friends, now we're just bandmates," but the truth is everyone is a big happy family! (Barf!) In late January 2005, the band added lead guitarist Alex Nitta to the fold. Alex tastefully rounds out the sound, as well as the group dynamic.
