The band that would eventually become Root of the Sick began with a guitar player from Philadelphia answering a classified ad posted by a bass player from the Lehigh Valley looking for a singer. A year later, after only occasionally keeping in touch, their paths crossed again. This time, J, the guitar player, was joined by a singer, Preston. The two made the hour and a half trip up past Allentown for a fateful meeting with Doug the bass player and Andy the percussionist, and an instant musical connection was made... A year, numerous jams, and many miles on their cars later, the group sought out a full time drummer, and was joined by Mike. With the line up solidified, the band moved quickly to develope a powerful live performance and began playing open mic nights. Even before they completed their first demo they were booked to play their first shows. Recently the band has slimmed down to a four piece (sans full-time percussionist), relocated to a new headquarters in the heart of Philadelphia, and has begun actively playing around the Philadelphia circuit.
