NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
Formed in 1999 by singer/guitarist Neil Gunhold, Pop Debris achieved an immediate notoriety when their first album, "If you don't know, don't ask" attracted major label attention before the band had ever stepped onstage. The group's decision to ignore the label advances until they had developed a stronger cohesion may have kept them out of the commercial spotlight, but it was clearly the correct artistic decision. The band's second album, "Food of the Gods" was shockingly successful considering the band's level of exposure. The album was considered far too eclectic by major label standards, impossible to market given the homogenized state of rock radio at the time However it still sold over three thousand copies within Alberta, based entirely on word of mouth.

The band continued to play, tour, record, and develop their sound and audience until 2003, when the decision was made that signing to a record label now made sense. The group settled on a deal with local label NEXXT, a company which was large enough to give them the support they felt they needed, but wouldn't interfere artistically. The group entered a Calgary studio for ten months and emerged with "Solid Space", by far their most cohesive, powerful album yet.

For the first time, the band philosophy has been clearly reflected in the sound of the new album. "We don't want to be a retro band," explained Neil Gunhold in a recent interview, "but we don't ignore everything that's come before us either." With a sound that contains influences as modern as the Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers, and as classically disparate as the Police, Led Zeppelin, and the Ramones, the band have now captured that elusive identity they had been searching for from the beginning.
