NOTIZIE PRINCIPALI
Some beers have ‘born-on’ dates stamped on the bottle. Though Frozen Smile has ingredients that might be considered vintage, the music is as fresh as tomorrow’s news. Various songs have been compared to American Hi-Fi and Puddle of Mudd, while others evoke that new wave genre that brought folks out of their 70’s funk – tracks that the Cars would have been proud to have penned.

Hailing from Gomorrah-by-the-bay, Frozen Smile writes lyrics that challenge, celebrate and titillate in the true San Francisco tradition. The music is aggressive and eclectic.

Frozen Smile is also about technology. Hailing from the tech-rich San Francisco Bay Area, the trio has had exposure to everything from biotech to network infrastructure. These influences can be seen and heard at their shows and on their recordings – from the latest PA equipment to their state-of-the-art recording facilities, and even in their instrumentation.

“We play every note you hear on our CDs and in our live shows. Sometimes they’re sampled and triggered; sometimes they’re being played from a synth guitar. There are only three of us, so we use technology, where appropriate, to deliver our sound” says guitarist/vocalist Brien McDonough. Their 2003 CD, Power Pop, encapsulates their driving style into a compact, fast-paced feast of approachable rock – lush with signature vocal and guitar underpinnings. Their next CD, due for release in the Spring of 2006, will be available on music sites and all the major retailers.
