ulissa" was founded in Queens, New York in the year 2001 by the bands front woman singer/songwriter Julissa Gomez and her cousin, Mario German. Both cousins are of Dominican decent raised in the heart of New York, the mecca of pop culture. The Julissa Band, or better known by local fans as simply "Julissa" is also comprised of four other members who’s unique playing style makes the sound of Julissa which is a blend of latin style rhythms with American modern Rock, incorporating an eclectic mix many genres with catchy hooks and melodies. Other members are: Nuyoricsan born - Albert Maldenado (lead/rhythm guitar), Puerto rican born - Carlos Fuentes (Bass), Irish American Born James - Shepherd (Drums), and Nuyorican born - Bissette Mercado (Percussion).
