of Radical Retard and My Dinnerz Cookin’. They played their very first gigs at Nyenrode University,
recorded their first demo VOLUME in 1997, and remained a quartet for four years.
When CARRERA parted with former founder/ singer/ guitarist Kees things really took off. After
some time of adjusting to being a trio playing gigs STRAIGHTENING THE CURVES was recorded
and self-released in 2002. CARRERA consists of BAS DE GEEST (drums), JOHAN PERK (vocals,
guitar) and FRANK ROEMER (bass, vocals).
CARRERA played about every gig they could possibly play, and all that effort was rewarded in
their record deal with STACEY RECORDS and support shows for LAGWAGON, VAN KATOEN and
THE SHAVERS and a tour through Holland and Scandinavia with THE SUPERSUCKERS.
Inspired by the tour; soon FREAKYDEAKYDUTCH was written and recorded, and released by
young STACEY RECORDS and KIX4U RECORDS in 2003. Things would never be the same again.
CARRERA remains an independent entity in the crazed music business, they seek refuge
in the digital world by releasing their work on a vast amount of digital music stores, embracing
new technology (RSS, PayPal, CDBaby) and other 'non-punk' activities such as being sponsored
by NIKE SKATEBOARDING and VON ZIPPER EYEWEAR.
THE SHAVERS became good friends and mentors, drummer THEO DE JONG signed the band on
his label RUMBLE RECORDS and recorded CARRERA's new ep 6, released in 2004.
Recently CARRERA recorded tribute to Herman van Veen, a celebrated dutch artist. Currently CARRERA is working on a new album, a video project and several other exciting endeavors such as Emergenza.
