David Vandermeersch (Belgium) and Nick Penfold (Australia) met in Turkey, and as they located to London found Weymouth bred Robert Lane on bass. The final piece was added when finally Andy arrived as an interim drummer (while he formed his own band).
Red Star 11's debut was 26th September 2001 in the Little Backyard Club, London, with a crowd of about 40 including some members of Placebo to contribute to the nerves. This led to dates at the Bull and Gate and the Dublin Castle through early 2002. The band then retreated to the studio (well..... bedroom) to produce the 11 track demo-album 'Charlie Chaplin' in the later half of 2002.
Drummer Dee joined in October 2002 as a permanent member, adding a solid and hypnotic groove
